As we wrap the 2006 year, the Arizona Christian Wheelers crew assembled for a great public event and a first for the club.  This year, we not only did the now traditional Christmas Parade in Prescott, but we participated the Prescott Valley light parade, one night prior.

The night parade was a first for our club, as well as for most of the individual members attending.  December 1 was the night and the temperature was considerably warmer than the previous 4 nights in the tri-city area.  All week, the high was around 39 degrees and the lows were well below 25 degrees in most areas, so everyone braced for a very cold night.  Thursday, the weather was turned to favor us with a warm day, and an evening temperature around 39, still cold, but praise to God from the participants.

Let the fun begin

In attendance, Brian & Kristi Letendre (SilverBullet & Kermit), Chris & Mandy Ayers (Brutal & Green M&M), Andrew & Bethany Sylviera (onewhitezj & tinkering), Scott Gail and Slim (scott), Shane and Stephanie McKinney and Family (Shane), Adam Cooper & his brother (Carl Cooper), Donovan Lampert, Johonna, Todd Warden (driving Mater), and Jim & Chandler Shikany (Brutal’s neighbor).  Most of the participants met at Chris’s church around 3:30 to begin decorating and staging for the parade.  After getting ready and slowly driving to the staging area, we were ready for the parade.  As the sun set, we began to notice that the dark night led itself very well to the lights being very effective.  A few rigs (like SilverBullet) needed many more lights due to the dark color of it, but for a first time, it went very well.  We all had a great time.

The very next morning, were at it again.  Brian & Chris and families met at the church again to un-decorate the rigs from last night and transport into Prescott.  We met everyone at the staging area and all began to decorate.  After only a couple hours, our rigs were again transformed into Christmas delivery trucks that would even make Santa proud, if the reindeer ever called in sick.  The group was fed well by Andrew and Bethany, who brought hot dogs, chips, and drinks to share.  Chris cooked, and we all were fed before we rolled into the parade route.  The officials asked that we run two vehicles wide along the route, so we obliged, and swerved in and out of each other all the way down.  Chris & Brian’s tow rigs led single-file, and everyone else followed in a slalom style weave.  The pictures show it best, so I will try to narrate where necessary…

Those in attendance

Here are some of the people who made it and....

HOLY COW!!! What happened to Chris?

... just kidding, Chris was delayed in getting his prosthetic leg so he had fun with his leg as it was, what a great sport!

Now we headed into the parade, we did not have a person planted in the audience to take pictures, so here is what we have.

And yes, even the big guy made it!

After wards most of us decided to go to eat and we had a great time of fellowship.  A group shot was taken at the restaurant, and we then went our separate ways.  I think everyone can agree, we had a great time.
