Day 1 - Travel Day

Nothing major happened this day, Brian was headed up early Wednesday to met with SteveO and have dinner. Shane and family had to come later due to an appointment already made in Prescott. During th etrip, Brian found out from Steve that due to damage to his rig and a lack of parts in Moab or any near by cities, he had to bug out and get the truck home before it was immobile. So we never got to meet Steve, maybe next time. Brian arrived in Moab around 3:30 and explored a bit. We found the infamous Lion's Back (now closed) and Potato Salad Hill.

Here is Lion's Back, to the credit of the conservation agency up there, they really got the trail clean, very little markings were left on the old trail.

Out of all the possible trails in Moab, we decided to run 2 this week that were in teh Sand FLats Area. This allowed us to only pay one entry fee.

As it was so well put by Shane, to keep the trails open, we would have gladly paid more, but we appreciated the 3 day fee of only $5.00.

While we were up there Friday, God provided us some very cool views and scenes.

Editors Note: Here is one of my truck in a good spot for a picture...

Now to show you Potatoe Salad Hill...

as you can see, it does not look so tough from the bottom, but from the top you can see more of the trouble spots...

This exploration wrapped up day one. Shane made it into town late that night (technically the next morning, around 4:00 am) and so the first trail, Hell's Revenge would be set for a later departure than origionally planned.

Day 2 - Hell's Revenge

All of these pictures are from the Hell's Revenge Trial, I tried to keep them in order, so enjoy.

This is the veiw on the first climb from the pay station...

and the climbs go on from there...

Three rigs, Brian, Shane, and Steve (Shane's Parents)

These are the famous Hot Tubs, we all drove through this one, but I was not up with the camera in time so the first 2 rigs.

This is the second tub, the picture does no justice. No one did this one due to lack of recovery equipment on the other rigs, good call for a safe trip.

Here is Escelator hill, again the bottom looks not so bad...

but watch the videos and see difrent angles of what is up there...

After this trail run, we all headed back to the hotels to clean up, eat dinner, and meet up with Shane's brother who drove in from New Mexico and would join us the next 2 days.

Day 3 - Golden Spike and Kane Creek

Today the froup split. Shane and his family went on Golden Spike trail (I am still awaiting pictures) and Brian took a trip to Kane Creek trail.

Kane Creek was supposed to be too many water crossings to count, but unfortunately the dry summer had paid its dues, and there were only about 10 to cross at the end adn they were very shallow and muddy, not flowing much. We did get out at one spot that had water and Scott saw a frog on teh trails, he loved that. Unfortunately, being by ourselves (not a good idea, NEVER WHEEL ALONE, it was a bad move on my part) we did not take any pictures. We were hung up a couple times on the exit climbs, and I was worried that we may have to turn around adn wheel back out. Thanksfully, that was no tht ecase and we exited near Hole N' The Rock and stopped to stretch and walk around.

Check out the Jeep there... and the tow hooks!

Day 4 - Fins-N-Things

Our final trail day we took Fins-N-Things trail in the Sand Flats Recreation area. This day was also Ladies Day! All the women drove the rigs. Kristi was a bit apprehensive, but about half way through the trail, she drove as well.

Brian was given the chance to get us lost... I mean lead the group. So with his trusty map and trail guidebook, off we went.

Day 5 - Travel Day

On Day 5, we all packed up and headed home. There were no problems on the trip, and praise God everyone made it home before the sun was set.
