| This run was attended by off-roaders from a variety of locations, so we all met up in the parking lot of Wild Horse West, near Lake Pleasant. Our intention was to find some mines located on the backside of Lake Pleasant, but Phil was the only one who had done this trail before. |
Once 10:30 rolled around, we headed out in search of the unloading spot.

A wrong turn led us into a dirt road through a riverbed. The road was easy going until we tried to turn around and Brutal’s tow rig got that sinking feeling... Soft sand, two-wheel drive, and a heavy trailer is not a good combination!

But in the spirit of ACW, no one is ever left stranded. We dug out his tires and before long he was freed with a backwards tug (using the trailer as a tow point).

We backtracked a bit and found our way to the proper trail, where we found an unloading spot. This is also where Deacon found us. All of the quads and trailered vehicles were unloaded and their drivers suited up for the cold weather.
The trail took us back behind the lake through some marshy areas. There were a few rocky areas and a hill climb that gave us 4x4’s an excuse to use low range, but nothing too challenging.

We found the location where the mines had been, but discovered that all of the mining equipment near the road had been removed. We decided not to hike back to try to find the mining tunnels as it was getting to be late afternoon already. After meeting a Ford traveling in the opposite direction, the group decided to split up as some were searching for more challenging obstacles.
